Five Minute Friday | Turn

katemotaung.com

I'm spending a lot of time thinking about seasons turning over this week.  The season of 31 Days to Be Still is technically over.  I'm currently focusing on this season of giving Thanks.  And I'm looking toward the light of the Advent season, planning for our upcoming day retreat.

But spiritually I'm also in a new season.  A season of turning inward and upward.  I've been so oriented toward outward expression, that I need some personal, private time with God.  How do I do that while working to build this blog, which I feel called by Christ to do?  Oh, yeah, and work and manage the home front and nurture my Mr. through a stressful time and my kiddos through the ups and downs of being young?

I'm turning to prayer.  More and more.  I'm turning to the comfort of continued conversations with God.  I'm at this weird place of not officially starting prayers with a "Dear Lord" or ending them with an "Amen."  It's just a constant weaving of my internal thoughts with blurts up to God.  And while it doesn't feel structured or purposeful or correct, it feels right.

I'm joining Kate Motaung and the Five Minute Friday linkup.  Five minutes.  One word.  Resisting the urge to edit and refine.  Because God will do the pruning and perfecting in me better than I ever can.

  2. Thanks for the vulnerability you share. I can relate to many of your thoughts here. Thanks for bringing to light how important prayer is especially when we aren't sure what to do.

    1. Sara, your response is a gift — just what I needed to hear today when I'm not sure what to do or what to write. Praying through it and to God's next step!
