31 Days to Be Still

I'm inspired once again by Myquillyn Smith at The Nester
to join in the challenge of writing for 31 Days to go deep into a topic.

But really, I'm inspired by God to go deep into him.
To create space for him to transform me, energize me,
and make exciting things happen to glorify him.

I need to BE STILL.

Won't you please join me for a month of meaningful quiet and faith-filled reflection?

And if you are looking for other ways to inspire your October,
check out the plethora of 31 Day writers here.

Be still and know that I am God.  Psalm 46:10

We live in a "Just Do It" world.  A world geared towards getting things done.  Where what you do defines who you are.  And while purposeful productivity is good, like all things it is best in moderation.

Welcome to 31 Days of taking a break from the drive to DO, in favor of the blessing to BE.  For a few moments each day, I invite you to put the earthly rush on pause and hush into a place of stillness.

Join me each day for a few moments of being still, of just being. Because our earthly busyness is crazy making.
Because God made us for more than this.  Because "Sabbath" is spelled with "be"s, not "do"s.  Because we are loved, unconditionally and eternally, not for what we have done or could ever do, but because of who we are in Christ.

I could have titled this series "Quiet Time" or "Rest."  But both have a hint of things you are supposed to do.  What I want to give you—what I really need myself—is permission to put life on hold, to hold onto what is precious in life, and to simply receive God's grace.

Each day we will explore a different approach to having a "Be" Attitude—a perspective that recognizes we are enough just as we are, flaws and all.  We will beat back busy, put aside the drive to do, and practice making ourselves available to a deeper relationship with God that allows us to live fully, to be full in our faith.

  1. Liz: I'm so glad you found my blog so I can find yours, too. LOVED the Be Creative post on Day 21 and looking forward to getting caught up on the rest. God has been talking to me about rest as well, so this is a perfect read to add to my mix.
